Xiaomi has been launching a lot of smartphones in India for some time now. The brand started its year by launching the Xiaomi 11i Hypercharge in India. After that just two weeks later, Xiaomi introduced another smartphone in India. Which is the Xiaomi 11T Pro Hyperphone 5G at starting price of Rs 34,999. This newly launched smartphone is the successor of the Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro which was launched in India in October 2020. So read all about Xiaomi 11T Pro Review
Xiaomi 11T Pro Review and Specification
A lot of things changed in the Xiaomi 11T Pro when compared to its predecessor. While the brand has retained its overall design, everything else is new. From the display, cameras, processor, and more importantly the charging tech, everything has worked out perfectly. The Xiaomi 11T Pro is a part of the brand’s ‘hyper’ series. This smartphone packs top-of-the-line features which are available in the market right now.
You get a 6.67-inch AMOLED display in the Xiaomi 11T Pro which is a step up from Mi 10T Pro’s LCD display. It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G processor, which is two generations ahead of Mi 10T Pro’s Snapdragon 865 SoC. You also get a 108MP camera with a newer Samsung HM 2 sensor and a 5,000mAh battery with support of 120W charge. This charger is the same which is shipped by the company with the Xiaomi 11i Hypercharge.
There are certainly many features in favor of the Xiaomi 11T Pro. But are these figures enough to really make it a ‘hyper phone’? We’ll try to answer that and more in this review article, so keep reading.
Xiaomi 11T Pro Design and Display
The design of the Xiaomi 11T Pro is very similar to the Mi 10T Pro, but it is not necessarily a bad thing. It has plastic edges and a glass back with a quad-curved design. The back glass has a brushed aluminum finish. The anti-glare coating gives the phone a glossy appeal. This design gives the smartphone a good grip while holding it in hand, Even if it doesn’t make it easy for you to use it because of its size.
It also makes the device slip on solid surfaces. Thankfully, A transparent silicon cover ships by Xiaomi inside the box, which makes the Xiaomi 11T Pro ‘slip-resistant’. And it also makes the glossy back smudge-proof. However, using the cover makes it a bulky phone a bit bulky which is a downside of the Xiaomi 11T Pro.
But if you can ignore the size & weight, then the Xiaomi 11T is a decent-looking smartphone. Even if it isn’t one of Xiaomi’s most premium-looking smartphones. Don’t get me wrong here, the Xiaomi 11T is a beautiful phone in itself, but the glossy back dampens the overall impression for me.
Looks aside, the smartphone has IR Blaster on the top and a speaker grille and another speaker grille at the bottom, a SIM card slot, and a USB Type-C port for charging. You get the volume rockers on the right side, which sit above the side-mounted fingerprint button, which also doubles as the home button for the smartphone. The fingerprint sensor of the smartphone is very fast and reliable and it unlocks the phone flawlessly every time.
All these features of the Xiaomi 11T Pro will make you seem like nothing has changed in the 11T Pro compared to the Mi 10T Pro, but if you look closely, you will see that Xiaomi has made micro changes that make all the difference. For example, Xiaomi has shifted the Mi insignia in the lower left corner of the back and replaced it with the Xiaomi 5G branding.
You’ll also notice that the brand has changed the rear camera module design. While the rear camera module is still positioned vertically, the camera placement has changed. The triple camera setup is positioned inside a camera module, which is placed inside another camera module with an LED flash and a 108MP AI camera brand.
Talking about the display, A 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz screen refresh rate and a resolution of 2400×1080 pixels is featured by Xiaomi 11T Pro. You also get support for Dolby Vision and HDR 10+ along with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection and 1,000 nits peak brightness. Details aside, If you binge-watch all your favourite shows on your phone like me then the large display of the phone makes up for a very comfortable viewing experience.
What adds to the overall charm of the Xiaomi 11T Pro is that the display is well lit and the colors are in just the right place. Whether you’re watching period dramas like Reigns on Amazon Prime Video or Hockey on Disney+ Hotstar, you’ll never be disappointed with the overall experience.
Xiaomi 11T Pro Performance
Now, let’s talk about the performance of the Xiaomi 11T Pro. But first a little bit about the software.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G chipset is used in the Xiaomi 11T Pro, which is coupled with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. The device runs Android 11-based MIUI 12.5, which honestly is a letdown, especially for a flagship-level smartphone launching in 2022. But the slightly old software doesn’t affect the overall performance of the smartphone.
The MIUI 12.5 has been nicely optimized to take full advantage of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC. However, it does come with a lot of bloatware, which makes the overall experience perfect. Thankfully, you can remove all the apps you deem unnecessary, which improves the experience.
Software aside, the Xiaomi 11T Pro is extremely comfortable to use and it works smoothly without you throwing any sweat on it. I experienced no issues in day-to-day usage during my short time with the phone, Whether watching shows on OTT platforms, or answering endless emails, or surfing social media, the phone worked flawlessly all the time.
Xiaomi 11T Pro Camera Review
A triple rear camera system consisting of a 108MP primary lens is featured by the Xiaomi 11T Pro with Samsung’s HM2 sensor. The same camera has been used in its Xiaomi 11i Hypercharge. Apart from the 108MP camera, you also get an 8MP ultra-wide angle lens and a 5MP tele macro lens. The Xiaomi 11T Pro’s rear camera setup offers a mixed bag of performance.
While most of the time the device does offer a wide dynamic range and reproduces colors accurately, it misses out on the clarity, Which becomes apparent when you zoom in a bit on an image. This is not only true for all three camera lenses.
That said when there is enough light to illuminate the subject the clarity is greatly improved. Coming to low-light photography, it is easy to notice the difference as the edges become sharper. Xiaomi 11T clicks good pictures in low light conditions. Pictures are well lit with a little noise but don’t expect much on the clarity front here either.
Talking about the front camera, the smartphone supports a 16MP selfie camera, and the Xiaomi 11T Pro takes decent images with balanced colors using the selfie camera But it misses out on clarity even when there’s enough light.
Xiaomi 11T Pro Battery Review
The Xiaomi 11T Pro has a 5,000mAh battery with support for the brand’s 120W ‘Hypercharge’ technology – something that was introduced with the 11i Hypercharge phone. Xiaomi claims that this 120W charger charges the device in only 17 minutes. While it may have sounded too good to be true a few days ago, not anymore.
The Xiaomi 11i Hypercharge taught us that charging a smartphone in less than 30 minutes is possible. That possibility is doubled down by the Xiaomi 11T Pro doubles. It charges the smartphone in around 15 minutes. But you don’t need to manually unlock this functionality unlike the Xiaomi 11i Hypercharge, Instead, it is enabled for the device by default. That means, even if you’re in a hurry, a few minutes of charge will give you enough juice to reach your destination without worrying about the battery.
